Tailgating 101: How to Survive GA/FL Weekend

The biggest weekend of the year is almost here, so it's time to pack up all your game day necessities as the University of Georgia and the University of Florida meet up in Jacksonville for one of the biggest rivalry games in college football. Whether you're staying in town for the big game or tailgating in Jacksonville, we've got the best tips to make your weekend extra enjoyable!

Tip 1: Make a check list and pack everything the night before so you're not scrambling around early the next morning. There's nothing worse than missing kick-off because you ran out of cocktail napkins and have misplaced the grill utensils. Get everything packed in your UGA Picnic Basket and you'll be ready to rumble.

Tip 2: Welcome guests to your party or tailgate with a nice beverage, and don't forget to include a non-alcoholic option for those who don't drink. Maybe you're team has a signature drink like a Hot Toddy, or if you're anything like us, you have all ingredients on hand for nice, cold Old Fashioned. Serve it up real pretty and don't forget your UGA cocktail napkins!

Tip 3: When planning your menu remember that finger foods typically work best rather than something that needs both hands to be eaten. Pack your menu full of wings, jalapeño poppers, tacos, and the classics: hamburgers and hotdogs. But if finger foods aren't your style, we've got the perfect item that will make your tailgate so much easier. Two words: Fan. Plates. These bad boys come with a built in drink holder and are personalized with your team's logo.

Tip 4: Comfort is key. Most likely, it's gonna be a busy day. So, be sure to wear your comfiest clothes and shoes while still looking cute and supporting your team. Here's our go to look:

Here, we've paired a red jacket with black denim and red boots, and tied the look together with a UGA scarf. We're ready for the game!

No matter who you root for, there's nothing like a day spent with family and friends cheering on your favorite team! We hope these tips help you have the perfect day. Go Dawgs!
